Practice Modes

The Practice page gives you six ways to review the same vocabulary — pick whichever fits your mood, or rotate through them for variety.

1

Open Practice. Click "Practice" in the top navigation. You'll see how many words are due, a "Review due words" shortcut, and all six mode tiles.

Pick a mode:

  • 🗂️ Flashcards — flip cards to reveal the translation, then self-rate how well you knew it. This is also where the SM-2 spaced repetition schedule is driven from — see How Reviews Work.
  • ❓ Quiz — multiple choice; pick the correct translation from several options.
  • 🔗 Matching — match words to their translations across a grid.
  • ✏️ Spelling — write a sentence using the word, to practice active recall.
  • ⌨️ Type It Pro — type the translation from memory instead of picking it.
  • 🔤 Fill in the Blank Pro — complete a sentence with the missing word.

Filter your word set (optional). Restrict a session to one collection, favorites only, or "hardest first" so you spend more time on words you consistently get wrong.

4

Practice. Work through the session at your own pace — your due/reviewed/mastered counts and daily streak update as you go, visible in the sidebar.

💡

Flashcards and Quiz both feed the same SM-2 schedule, but rate your recall differently — Flashcards asks you to self-rate, Quiz infers it from correctness and response time. See How Reviews Work for the full explanation.
