Importing Vocabulary

One import wizard handles four sources — CSV, Anki (.apkg), Quizlet exports, and ReWord backups — so switching to WeaveWords doesn't mean starting over.

1

Open the import wizard. Go to Collections and click "Import".

2

Choose your source and upload the file. Select CSV, Anki, Quizlet, or ReWord, then upload the export file — accepted formats are .csv .txt .tsv .apkg .backup, up to 100MB.

3

Review the auto-detected field mapping. WeaveWords previews the first few rows and guesses which column is the word, translation, notes, examples, synonyms, or image URL. Adjust any dropdown it got wrong, or mark a column to skip.

4

Choose the target collection. Import into an existing collection or create a new one on the spot. Importing from ReWord specifically offers a "split by category" option, creating one collection per ReWord category instead of a single dump.

5

Start the import and watch progress. Larger imports run as a background job with a live progress bar rather than blocking the page — you can navigate away and check back.

💡

Moving from Anki specifically? Your existing SM-2 scheduling data doesn't carry over — new cards restart on WeaveWords' review schedule from a clean state.
